Retreat Programme 2021

Due to Covid-19 our retreats and events will now take place online via Zoom until Spring/Summer 2021 at the earliest. These will all be free of charge. However, we request that you support our teachers by offering dana. If you would like to take part in these online retreat days please subscribe to our email newsletters via our website and you will be sent all the relevant information and the link and password to Zoom.

Saturday 24th April 2021 – Catherine McGee – Online Retreat

A Holiday for the Heart: an online day retreat with Catherine McGee – organised by Oxford Insight and Sheffield Insight

Catherine McGee has practised and studied Buddhist meditation with senior teachers from Asia and the West since 1991. She has been teaching Insight Meditation at Gaia House and internationally since 1997. Her teaching emphasises embodied practice and the integration and translation of our deepest understandings into our life.

Saturday 12th June 2021 – Laura Bridgman – venue to be confirmed


Laura Bridgman ordained as a nun with Ajahn Sumedho in 1995, and was resident at Amaravati and Chithurst monasteries for eighteen years until she moved out to live as a solitary nun in 2010. Over the past ten years she has spent extended periods of time with the Burmese teacher Sayadaw U Tejaniya. In 2015 Laura left the monastic tradition to pursue the Diamond Heart (Ridhwan) spiritual path alongside her Vipassana practice. There is much overlap as this path incorporates several fundamental Buddhist principles and practices.

Saturday 17th July 2021 – Zohar Lavie – venue to be confirmed

Zohar Lavie has been practising meditation in different traditions since 1995. This journey has taken her from the meditation cushion into exploring further ways of expressing truth and love and in 2004 she co-founded SanghaSeva. She now spends most of her time facilitating retreats that offer service as a spiritual path around the world. Since 2006 she has been teaching on silent retreats and Dharma gatherings in India, Europe and Israel.

Saturday 18th September 2021 – Kirsten Kratz – venue to be confirmed

Kirsten Kratz has practised Buddhist meditation in Asia and the West since 1993 and started teaching in 2006. One of her particular passions is exploring how wisdom teachings can foster appropriate responses to the challenges of our time. She supports those on personal retreat in Gaia House and she is co-initiator of the Dharma Action Network for Climate Engagement (DANCE: www.thedancewebsite.org).

Saturday 16th October 2021 – Bhante Bodhidhamma – venue to be confirmed

Bhante Bodhidhamma started training in Soto Zen in 1977, then in the Mahasi Theravada tradition. In 1986 he ordained, subsequently spending eight years at Kanduboda Mahasi Meditation Centre in Sri Lanka. He has been teaching in England, Ireland and internationally since 1998. After four years as resident teacher at Gaia House, he founded in 2007 the Satipanya Buddhist Retreat in Wales, a meditation centre devoted to the Mahasi tradition.

Saturday 27th November 2021 – Yanai Postelnik – venue to be confirmed

Yanai Postelnik has practised and studied Insight Meditation and Buddhism since 1990 and has been teaching internationally for over 20 years. He is much inspired by the Thai forest tradition and the transformative power of the natural world. Yanai is a Core Faculty member of Insight Meditation Society, Massachusetts.
