Bhante Bodhidhamma started training in Soto Zen in 1977, then in the Mahasi Theravada tradition. In 1986 he ordained, subsequently spending eight years at Kanduboda Mahasi Meditation Centre in Sri Lanka. He has been teaching in England, Ireland and internationally since 1998. After four years as resident teacher at Gaia House, in 2007 he founded the Satipanya Buddhist Retreat in Wales, a meditation centre devoted to the Mahasi tradition.

Dana In the spirit of generosity, our teachers offer their teaching freely. We invite you to make a ‘dana’ donation to support Bhante in continuing to offer the teachings in this way. Your generosity to our teachers is greatly appreciated, it is truly what enables the continuation of the teaching.

To make a donation to Bhante please go to https://www.satipanya.org.uk/donations/ and make your donation to the Satipanya Buddhist Trust. To learn more about Satipanya, where Bhante serves as Spiritual Director, please visit https://www.satipanya.org.uk/

Donating to Oxford Insight Meditation Registration for this online event is free and we invite you to offer dana to Bhante to support his work and livelihood (see above). In addition, when you register for the event there is an opportunity to make a donation to help cover Oxford Insight Meditation’s costs of offering these retreat days. Suggested donation £5.

Please note we are unable to process donations for our teachers through Eventbrite.

What to Expect – Day Retreats Online

Our online retreats take place on Zoom. Please arrive in the Zoom waiting room 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. The retreat will be from 9:30am until roughly 4:30pm and includes a lunch break of at least 1 hour. We ask that you commit to staying for the full day.

The exact structure of the day will vary depending on the teachers’ preference. Typically it will include periods of sitting and walking meditation, a dharma talk, guidance on meditation and an opportunity to ask questions about your practice. All retreats are suitable for beginners, as well as those with experience of meditation practice.

We ask that you remain muted during the session, unless you are invited to unmute and speak. We invite you to keep your video on so that we have a sense of community together, unless your internet connection does not support that.

The Zoom Link will be emailed to those who have registered one week before the retreat, 24hrs before the retreat and again 1 hour before the retreat begins. Please check your junk mail if you have not received the email.

Please contact oxfordinsightmeditation@gmail.com if you have any questions.
